I’m slightly in denial that I’m going to be hitting 30 weeks tomorrow. I say slightly in denial because there really isn’t any denying the fact that this baby will be making her appearance fairly soon. This second pregnancy is really flying by fast.
Even though there are many fabulous benefits to pregnancy, all the not-so-fun aspects of pregnancy are all coming back to me.
One of the strangest side effects of pregnancy that I’ve encountered is not being able to eat large portions at meals. Who would have thought? I’ve always assumed pregnancy was the time to dig in and really take advantage of the saying, “eating for two.”
In reality, once you hit the third trimester, there’s not a whole lot of room for big meals. That doesn’t mean I’m not any hungrier. Not only am I making frequent stops to the bathroom, but I have also found myself constantly in the kitchen looking for something to fill me up without filling me up.
Since I find myself snacking a lot during the day, I wanted something easy to throw together, easy to take on the go and, most importantly, healthy. My tasty pregnancy trail mix recipe is not only simple to make, but it’s good for you and will satisfy all those pregnancy cravings.
The Perfect Pregnancy Trail Mix Recipe
I did some research (no surprise) before putting together my pregnancy trail mix recipe. I wanted to make sure to include foods chock-full of nutrients necessary for growing a baby. While researching, I noticed some trends…
colorful fruits and veggies
salmon (hmm… not so good in a trail mix)
whole grains
beans
eggs (also, not the greatest addition to a trail mix)
yogurt
walnuts
I chose the foods that made sense (and would taste good) in a trail mix recipe. If you are interested in finding out about all the must-eat foods for pregnancy, you can try WebMD’s list, the Bump’s list, and What to Expect’s list.
Now, don’t feel like you can only eat this trail mix while pregnant. It’s a great snack to keep at your bedside while breastfeeding. Even non-moms will enjoy this mix. My younger brother loved it, and his diet usually consists of chicken wings, pizza, and more chicken wings.

Looks tasty. I will have to try this.
Sounds yummy and healthy. I would definitely eat this without being pregnant. I do remember not being able to eat a lot at one sitting. I’d be grazing all the time at the end with my first pregnancy. Congratulations on your last trimester and many healthy, good thoughts for an easy delivery.

Oh I remember that time when there was so little room left to eat. It just so happens I was nursing AND pregnant last time around. I would have loved this. The yogurt covered raisins, ginger, and mango are what make this sound especially good. Have to pin and share this one for sure!

I never would have thought of trail mix when I was hungry. Of course, I was pretty limited because I had GD. But this sounds awesome!

This is a great tra mix. We will try it as soon as we find the new gluten free Cheerios. Cheerios are oat and that is a great supply booster when nursing!!!
Ohh I agree, salmon would not be so good in trail mix but the one you put together looks pretty good!

I love that this has yogurt covered raisins and a little cinnamon! This is healthier than the mix I really like with big chocolate discs in it. =)

Thank you for bringing this topic up. I like how you present
and argue all the details in addition to your overall writing style.
Sometimes, there’s a shortage of time to study long bits, but
is short and succinct, I spent only a couple of minutes to read
the whole article. It’s vital since no one has
time to browse.
