Today was the big day. We had our 20 week anatomy scan to make sure baby is healthy… and to find out the gender!
I really had myself convinced that this baby was going to be a boy, so you can imagine my shock and surprise when the ultrasound technician said the words, “you’re having a girl.”
As some of you may know, I was certain I was only going to have boys. Boys are everywhere in my life. I am the only girl in my family with three brothers, I always babysat boys, even my Kindergarten classes were predominantly boys. So, when I settled down I settled into the idea that I may be a mother of all boys (which is totally cool by the way).
I read all the articles on how to raise all boys and life with just boys and never even glanced at any of those articles that related to raising daughters. Well, I guess it just goes to show that life always brings the unexpected. I guess that’s what makes it so much fun.
So, in honor of our future daughter, I did a little bit of research on some articles about raising daughters.

Congratulations! Coming from a family of mostly girls and having had a girl my first pregnancy, I was convinced we’d have all girls. Then my son came along and squashed that theory.

Congratulations, my namesake. I am so very happy for you and your family.
Your website is really, really informative. I’m going to try to pay closer attention to it and make some blogs of my own. 🙂
You definitely should! Let me know if you ever need help getting started! Miss you 🙂
Yea! Girls after boys are awesome. You get that big brother, little sister relationship that is so special. The kids will be close friends.
Our son is a sweet boy, but our younger daughters are cuddly, smiley bundles of joy. You will notice a difference right away, and you’ll have a blast!
Congrtulations! My first was a boy as well and while I really wanted a brother for my son, I’ve heard girls are lots of fun as well! (Mine is only 8 weeks, but so far so good. haha)

Can I just tell you how eerily similar your story sounds to mine? I was certain this baby was a boy. Convinced I was destined to be one of those “moms of boys” and I thought I would write all these cheeky blog articles about it. I’m a nurse and even when the ultrasound tech showed me the gender on the screen I still said, “Is it a boy?” Clearly, I’m clueless. But now that we are having a girl, I’m thrilled. There’s a huge part of me that wonders if she will do things like, sit still for more than 5 minutes, or feel content doing quiet activities, or be gentle. Because if she does that would make me even more excited. Congrats on the girl. We will both have a boy and a girl. Very exciting.
